Feeding your plants a little fertilizer every time they are watered is an easy way to get the most out of them in every season. In the winter they will require less watering and will get less fertilizer. In the spring and summer when they are growing fastest, they will get more fertilizer which they need.
The easy way to do this is to use a one gallon plastic milk or water container. You can make up the solution at 1/4 teaspoon per gallon ahead of time and use this every time you water your plants.
Make sure you are watering your plants with this solution only when the soil is dry to your touch.
