When we bought our company back from Scotts in 1997, we knew we wanted to launch a new high quality retail product for our loyal customers. We knew we could not call the new product Peters, since Scotts sold the Peters retail name to Spectrum Brands from St. Louis, Missouri. Spectrum concentrated on expanding their presence in the big chains and left many of the independent garden centers and their loyal customers without access
to the Peters products they had learned to rely on.
Jack's Classic® products were born out of the need to provide a high quality water-soluble product made by the original Peters family now under the J.R. Peters, Inc. name.
We knew that our customers were having difficulty finding what they knew as Peters at their favorite garden centers. They also told us that they preferred the plastic tubs for using and storing the product. We made the decision to bring the products back to market and offer them only through the high quality independent garden center operators.
We improved on all the classic Peters formulas and updated them with all the latest technology we obtained from working with the professional greenhouse grower since 1947. "These new Jack's Classic® products are the highest quality available today for the homeowner/hobbyist gardener.
We will continue to package all the Jack's Classic® products in high quality plastic tubs that are easy to use and provide a secure closure. The garden centers also prefer these packages because they are easy to display and hold up well when placed near the plant material they are selling.
We know it may take a while for people to recognize our new name but they can be assured that the Jack's Classic® products will perform up to the same high standards expected of all the products we have ever produced at Peters.
